#117. Go gardening with William Kentridge. With the temperature having plummeted to 7 degrees and the sun having packed its bags for the Northern Hemisphere, hibernation has become the course of action du jour. All my good intentions of driving out to the Cradle of Humankind to look at the Nirox Foundation’s sculpure garden dissolved much like the flu medication I have been living on for the past few days.
I have heard about the foundation from a number of different sources and Thys Dullart’s photos of the sculpture garden made me vow that when the first ray of sunshine unpacks its bags here, it will be a journey worth taking.
The most recent exhibition, Sources, displayed the work of South Africa’s top artists and sculptors including William Kentridge and Gerhard Marx’s “Fire Walker”, Willem Boshoff’s “Garden of Words III” and Brett Murray’s “La Petite Revolution” among 15 hectares of nature reserve over which the Nirox Foundation presides.
See it for yourself.
